Shrine of St. Jude

The Shrine of St. Jude is hosted by St. Stephen of Hungary Parish. It is a center of devotion for fostering the hope and joy of the gospel of Jesus Christ—especially through commemoration of its Apostle Jude Thaddeus—among those who are encountering the hopelessness of alienation or despair.

The Shrine is open for meditation prior to and following Masses at St. Stephen's. We offer weekly devotions, seasonal novenas and periodic newsletters and encourage participants' celebration of the Sacraments.

We also ask for financial support for the ministry of the gospel by St. Stephen of Hungary Parish and by the Holy Name Province of the Franciscans.

St. Jude's feast day is on October 28.

The Shrine of St Jude has the opportunity to be a place of refuge for those seeking peace in a very big city. Several times a year we host a week of prayer in honor of St Jude to give us an opportunity to pray together for all of our needs. Our next week of prayer will begin Mon. Jan 25th.

The Shrine also takes on the responsiblitiy in this parish of St. Stephen of Hungary, of spreading the gospel message of Jesus in a very real way. The Shrine has provided the opportunity for over 50 children and their families to begin participating in a new Faith Formation Process here on the East Side of Manhattan. Through weekly meetings children come together to learn with their peers and teachers more about their faith and how to live that out. Some of our students will be ready to receive their sacraments this springtime. Parents have the chance to relax and discuss many topics of concern to them while the children are in their groups. Surely St Jude, who was a close friend of Jesus would be thrilled that more people young and old, are coming together to learn about his friend, Jesus.
